For my artist talk I visited the open studio of Mark Wiener. I had the chance to talk with Mark one on one for about 30 minutes. During this time he talk about his resent works and I was able to ask questions about his process. What interested my the most was how his history of being a photographer played into his painting. A large number of his paintings where done on transparency. He painted on both side to allow the work to be seen from both sides and light passing through to become part of the work. Mark would also use natural light in his "installations" to keep the painting "alive." we also talked about how to present work in a gallery format. Mark talked about how he would use light boxes or hang pieces off the wall in order to show the piece how he saw it. Over all I am so thankful that I was able to meet Mark and see how his mind worked.
